Week 7

Hi Everyone!

I can’t believe how quickly this season is going! There’s only have 5 weeks left before Regionals. We’re going to be to the end of our season before you know it!

I also wanted to share our 2025 photo album which you can find here. Feel free to upload any photos you’ve taken of the team maybe at Cross Camp, sometime during summer training, or during the XC season.

Race Day – Otsego

Otsego is a descent sized invitational with quite a few schools. There are 23 teams in the D2 division with some stiff competition. Otsego and then again the race at Portage are races that are often seen as bellwether races for Regionals or State races. Many of the schools in Region 11 (our region) will be at Otsego, so this will be an opportunity to see how we might stack up against our competitors in October. Should be an exciting day!

This race is split into Varsity and JV with top 7 athletes competing in Varsity and the boys will be racing first.

You can check out the team roster to know who you’re cheering for!

Gallant Award

The Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’.  Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.

The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.

Elisha Van Spronsen

The thing that caught the attention of Elisha this week the way she puts in the work. Even the hard workouts like The Michigan, she has a smile on her face (mostly). Never complaining, she just goes to work. Even when the hard work is a long after racing as she prepares for the daunting 26.2 mile marathon this fall. Go Elisha!!

Dylan Duimstra

Dylan caught the attention of his teammates for a similar reason with what is certainly the quote of the week, if not the season. “If we’re going to have to do this workout, then we’re going to do it right!” Doing the hard things even when it’d be easy not to shows character and bringing those around him along for the ride, showed great leadership. Thank you, Dylan, for what you bring to this team!
