Hi Everyone!
What a great race on Friday! It totally broke my circadian rhythm, but it was totally worth it! My biggest take away from Friday was that my estimates for ya’ll was broken. I underestimated like 90% of you 🤦♂️. Super fun to see of you blow right past what I thought you might be able to do!
Nerdsheets
In God we trust, all others must bring data.
Two loves of mine in XC are a good quote and lots of data. Typically, we try to get splits at the mile and two mile, but it’s really hard to do that at this race in the dark. So, we thought we’d just go have fun and not get too scientific (yet).
If you’re a data nerd like me, you can view the girls nerdsheets here, and the boys nerdsheets are here. It’s a little sparse right, especially without splits and it being the first race, but it’ll be more helpful later in the season.
Also petty much every XC team and every race director will track results on athletic.net. Here’s a link to our team’s page where you can see all of our results for this season as well as seasons past. You can find race information here as well for future races (although EventLink is still your best bet)
Gallant Award

Our Gallant Award originated from a topic we used in devotions previously from the cartoons featured in Highlights magazine called ‘Goofus and Gallant’. Goofus is the jerk that always does the wrong thing, and Gallant is the bright and shining example of the right thing.
The Gallant award is given by their teammates. Each week the previous week’s recipient along with advice from our Captains will choose who they feel is the bright shining example of the right thing to do.

Alden Lucas
Alden was chosen last week by the captains because of his encouragement for the team. He can always be seen demonstrating to the rest of the team how to work hard, and is the first to encourage others on the team to give it their best effort. Thank you, Alden, for demonstrating Gallant to us!
Marie Gates
For much the same reason, Marie was recognized for her leadership with the Gallant award. Never shying away from the hard work that is XC and always the first to encourage others. Thank you, Marie, for being the bright and shining example of the right thing.
